Deadio Times

Recommended Posts

Right, I'm tuned in but I know I'm going to fall asleep soon - I'm not techno-minded, can I download it afterwards to listen to later or summat?

Nope, but if you PM me with a postal address we can probs do it really - as in CD - old school.

Most kind, but I think it's OK - I listened via Winamp, and left it running all night, and it's now allowed me to play the 'previous track' so I think I'm all right! Your dulcet tones have transported me back four years, to an over-priced London drinking den full of pie and wine!

Yer welcome Lardy, glad you finally accessed the show. We've had some - ahem - response to the fact we played a Spade Cooley track, might have to deliver a few more if the public continue to remark on them!

Nice to hear you playing a bit of Metal Machine Music this week, MPFC. That record inadvertently ended my career at Camden's Rhythm Records - I play it to piss off tourists demanding 'you play goa trance?!', boss gets annoyed and gives me a bollocking, I throw price ticket gun out of the pram and stomp out. Happy days.

So, speaking of the overwhelming public demand for Spade Cooley sounds, even if you logged on and only stayed for five minutes tonight, you won't be disappointed! Shout out for DL'ers just after 7 minutes in.

10-00pm, Miskin Radio

We in here. Do I get points for recognising Earl Bostic?

Admins shout out might have to wait until January. Earl Bostic, respect if you recognised that. I didn't, I just needed something of that vintage and found it on the Pig's Big 78s compilation. Could slyly slip in some DL favourites next year, by way of the odd Vera Lynn track, David Crosby etc.

Go well!

Searched and searched but couldn't find a thread on people off of the radio generally (other than the Radio 4 thread), which is a bit surprising, so here's one

Two ageing stars of BBC Radio Humberside, who won a Sony Radio Award this year, are leaving after the Christmas Day show - they are 86 and 91

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-humber-20809677

Meanwhile, I didn't realise that Peter Allen of Five Live was 66

I think there's a thread called "Deadio Times" that they could be listed under

Any chance of some Rizzle Kicks next week?

Oooh, not now we've pre-recorded without RK. Can sort it for yers in the future though Lardy and trail it on here first. Might be playing Winterset soon, mebbe around Valentine's Day when we'll have a two hour "love stinks" special full of break-up songs and the like. "Restore the Monarchy" by Winterset would fit in there a treat!

Another shameless plug but...

10-00 pm tonight (assuming a power cut doesn't f*** up the schedule like it did last Sunday, you might just find an opening triple shot comprising ...And You Will Know us by the Trail of Dead, Spade Cooley and Winterset (i.e. Harry McNally). Might just give yers a shout out too! www.miskinradio.co.uk

Of course, the station director would see evidence of anyone emailing strange@miskinradio.co.uk and demanding more of the same winning sounds! Winterset in particular seem very popular with our audience.

Perfect day would be another I think you would own. ?.

And "needle and the spoon" ..actually there is gazillions of them. A "no repeat" show that lasted a month should work.
