What Are You Giving Up For Lent?

Recommended Posts

i am going without all things chocolate. i wonder how i manage. prior to just now, i did go without pizza and today will have my first in 28 days, so im not bad at avoiding a specific thing if i really make the effort

i wonder btw where the term cold turkey came from i would guess its a sort of comparison in how hard it is to give up something really addictive - like trying to eat a bird that hasn't been cooked:P

I dont think I can go a single night without waking up more than once.

My dreams are also becoming more bizarre.

Well, I raised my kids - the oldest is almost 30 now - and I thought my days of 4am were gone. Then my cocker spaniel decided to get old and senile.

See, all my posts on the impending "World War Three" thread are finally starting to get to you!  I knew they would.  :D

Notapotato's mention of gravy reminded me that it's that time of year again.

Gravy. 2007. But yes. Was also an important part of the the kitchen thread you pedant.

Looking back, it appears I was giving up smoking last year, and not only that, I was going to let you know how I got on.

I lasted 6 days. I crumbled on the 7th day when my boss phoned me.

Anyway, this year, I'm giving up gravy optimism.

A late edit, well saved. Although.......

The English language word "pedant" comes from the French pédant (used in 1566 in Darme & Hatzfeldster's Dictionnaire général de la langue française) or its older mid-15th century Italian source pedante, "teacher, schoolmaster".

Cheers for the approbation.

Well, while I won’t completely stop posting, I definitely feel like that I need to limit my own posting for lent (and in general). I know for me this will be a very difficult task, however, as every time I post something it gives me a brief relief to my anxiety...

I was going to give up giving a fuck, but I see I did that back in 2013.

Can I do that again, or doesn't count if I never resumed?
