Just checked in with our 'non-evil twins' over at The 110 Club, Emma Moreno does look pretty good for 116

urHcjBk.jpg

I mean the fact that she can sit upright is a surprise.

That guy is clearly a gerontophile!By looks of it Emma isn`t complaining though!

Obviously.

Pretty amazing though, she's the last human being on planet Earth to have been born before the year 1900. Literally the last!

This couple have been married for 86 years: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-16441633

He is 106, she is 99. When you do the math it seems Mr Chand was a bit of a paedo in the early days...

Mr Chand is dead at 110. http://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/NEWS/14775553.World__39_s_longest_married_man_dies_at_age_of_110/

Thinks he's on the DDP...checks.

Nup. Not there, might have been last year...

Speaking of long marriages there was a couple mentioned in my local paper who've just clocked up 60 years. The bloke said the secret of their longevity is that they've managed to thinking divorce was the only option on the same day.

I had him last year but dropped him as I believed he was lying about his age.

Turns out the anonymous male who was Britain's oldest man was Harold Bracher (b. 1904). Anyway, he died back in April aged 111.

See: http://z3.invisionfree.com/The_110_Club/index.php?showtopic=17113

His successor, Frank Simes (b. 1905) died last month, also aged 111.

See: http://z3.invisionfree.com/The_110_Club/ar/t17061.htm

UK's new oldest man is John Mansfield (b. 1907), who turns 109 in December.

So who is Britain's oldest woman now? According to Wiki it is Vera Pigott but Bess Camm is almost a year older than her but not yet verified.

Vera is out of the equation, having died aged 111. According to the report, she wasn't even the oldest woman in Kent (Alice Ducat, 61 days older).

I've just seen that Zhou Youguang finally enters the top 100 oldest living persons list. He's at number 100 jointly with Yvette Mangin - both 110 years, 283 days old.

Which makes the fact Richard Overton hasn't dropped over all year in this his 109th on earth all the more frustrating. I'd kill the bastard myself if it didn't void my points. Hell between he and Emma Moreno I've got 224 years on my team and they look like 2016 miscues.

Yes SC, two human beings continue to live and deny you points. How can they be so inconsiderate?

No real news, just an interview with Emma Morano on her upcoming 117th next month. http://tribune.com.pk/story/1214188/emma-morano-worlds-oldest-person-egg-fanatic/

As a matter of fact, she resides in Northern Italy but she has Southern roots, probably from Calabria. Anyway it's sure she will make it to 2017.

No health issues plus the last 99 points in Shaun's Death by Numbers 2017 in the world! That's why she will make it.

But it certainly won't be the last 99 points in the world when Shaun's Death by Numbers 2018 rolls around.

If Emma Morano is still alive at the end of the year (basically two months from now), she will have overtaken Misao Okawa to be the 5th verified living person of all time. Pretty special.

But it hasn't yet happened and in my view people aged 110+ can die suddenly at any time without warning!

Looking at Wikipedia's list of all-time oldest people, it seems like there was a lot of them in the 1990s (especially during the end, with 3 out of the current top 5 dying between 1997 and 1999), and now there's again a surge. I wonder why there seems to be less of them in the 2000s.

My guess would be the group who were aged 110+ in the late 1990s were too old to have fought in WW1; the group who are 110+ now are too young to have fought in WW1.

Hence why there were fewer 110+ in the 2000s - they were the WW1 generation.

That might explain the men, not sure about the women.

Yes, the flu epidemic killed many more people worldwide than war-related causes.

Hmm very interesting situation now! Britain's oldest man is now a joint record.

1) Alf Smith of Perth, Scotland
2) Bob Weighton of Alton, Hampshire

Both born 29th March 1908.

Here's an article about Alf on his 108th. http://www.scotsman.com/news/scotland-s-oldest-man-reveals-secret-to-long-life-1-4086456
Here's an article about Bob shortly before his 108th. http://www.farnhamherald.com/article.cfm?id=108155&headline=Bob,%20107,%20books%20in%20for%20early%20birthday%20treat&sectionIs=news&searchyear=2016
