Country legend Merle Haggard has pneunomia:

http://theboot.com/merle-haggard-pneumonia/

Not necessarily dangerous for a 78-year old man, but he's a long-time smoker and also had lung cancer at one point.

The article also mentions that Haggard's current collaborator Willie Nelson required stem-cell therapy in the summer to help his lungs. Of course, he's also a long-time smoker - if not THE long-time smoker.of all kinds of things.

Glen Glenn played his last show just a few days ago. He's retiring at the age of 81 after almost 60 of performing.

I've no idea who my joker is yet (depends, really) but its not like its going to be a title changing decision for Pan Breed anytime soon.

Mind you, without any intentional design whatsoever, my short list appears to have a religious figure, an Irishman, a criminal and a country musician on it, which gave me a good laugh last night when I realised it!

Though he overall seems to be recovering, still not 100% as he's axed a couple more tour dates.

Now said to be cancer free

Of course, Jim Ed was saying the same for himself around this time last year, so we can probably still expect her to go in June!

Praise the Lord! So, what happened, He took her husband instead?

Merle Haggard resumed his tour earlier than expected, after his life-threatening double pneunomia. But he is struggling to perform:

(I'm thinking he deserves his own thread, if an admin would like to collect the previous posts on him.)

Nope. Not for a UK based dp he doesn't.

I don't care how big Merle Haggard may or may not be in the Country and Western music scene, but the entire genre is US in origin.

Paul Daniels has been a household name in the uk for decades, we are cognizant of a few C&W singers, none that I'm aware of are as well known as Mr Daniels is this side of the pond.

Continually re-iterating the importance of US personalities (and or writing "who the fuck" about non-US ones) is merely highlighting your perspective.

The point was neither deserves a thread. They should be few and far between.

Oh I know the Stoke Sentinel is blaring a headline for Daniels. Maybe that's enough around here.
