Why aren't any of the Rolling Stones in the top 50?

Possibly 'cos they haven't released a decent single in years :flame::ghost3:

But all of the Rolling Stones are included in my Death Club game I run at work.

But why not Yasser Arafat and Abu Musab Al Zarquarwi as well? :ghost3:

The list is created in December, looking forward to the coming year.

As such, a number of people may come to prominence during the year, such as Zarquarwi, who was probably unknown to 99.9% of people last December, or illnesses may become known only after the list is finalised, such as Arafat's.

As the list is fixed, we have to accept that there will be some big losses which we did not predict. Also, given the number is limited to 50 people, not everyone can be included.

There is a thread for people you would like to nominate for next year.

Likewise, a thread for people we missed during the year.

The Rolling Stones have had very few deaths throughout their long career, i think Brian Jones is the only one, so they could soon start dropping like flies, who is going to be the first rolling stone to die?

Charlie Watts was 64 the other day, but he doesn't look too bad. My money is definitely on Keith - he's looked wasted for years.

Charlie Watts, he recently suffered from throat cancer although it does seem to be in remission at the moment.

I'd say Brian Jones, but he's already dead. And didn't their longtime keyboard player, dubbed the "6th Stone" curl up his toes a few years ago?

My money is on Charlie Watts. I suspect Keef will outlive us all.

I have this nagging suspicion that Keith has been dead for years. I went to a Stones concert two years ago which featured a guitar player who did look pretty much like him, though. This may mean that they've found a stand-in, but the conclusion that Keith is a zombie seems more rational.

regards,

Hein

Indeed, Ian Stewart who was too ugly for the Stones' image, and had to play off-stage behind a curtain.

Bill Wyman has got gigs scheduled in 2006 so he must be feeling OK.

Good Keith story:

A few years ago a music journo was interviewing the great man. Keith spent the interview sipping a glass of Jack Daniels but briefly went out of the room to take a phone call. At this point the journo helped himself to a slug of the JD only to discover it was cold tea!

The story might be an urban legend or might be the key to Keith's apparant miraculous survival.

It could be him. He stopped smoking a while ago because his lungs were on the point of collapse.

I predict Brian Jones will die 36 years ago this year. I also predict he'll drown in a swimming pool.

Krissy Wood, the ex-wife of Rolling Stone guitarist Ronnie Wood, has died, the Wood family said today.

He already looks like he has been dead for years. ;)

Btw: This thread could be merged with the existing Rolling Stones thread here.
