End Times - The Rapture

Recommended Posts

Now see I posted my end of the world thing under Conspiracy Theories.... Probably a boner. But the line of demarcation is thin. Duly noted for next time. It was nice knowing all of you btw should this come to fruition. I can almost guarantee it's the end of the line for a few humans tomorrow.

SC

There's already a bit of an out in the article - 'there’s an unlikely possibility that it will not'. I'll check the Guardian tomorrow and if it says the world hasn't ended I'll know we're OK.

No prediction as such but I went running this morning in my shorts and cut the fucking grass around lunchtime. This is England in December. Unless the talking shop in Paris sorts out a decent deal those not drowning in floods will fry in the hot summers by 2097, or summat.

In that context, El Nino is going to be huuuuge this year:

http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/el-nio-set-become-mega-6958469

Though personally, I was even more scard by the news this week that in the past 40 years, 30% of all arable land on earth has been destroyed:

http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/dec/02/arable-land-soil-food-security-shortage

In fact, because of this, I now have the opinion that food needs to be more expensive, and competition in agriculture needs to be curtailed. It's like overfishing. Another reason the new free trade agreements need to be killed.

Nutters are already claiming the hypothesized new planet in the outer solar system will destroy the Earth some time this year:

That didn't take long, including some very bad astronomy Oh well, there's a good reason they're called nutters.

So a planet on the outer reaches of the solar system (5 billion miles +) is just going to happen to hit the Earth within one calender year?

Well that makes sense to me. What next, the Earth is flat?

The Doomsday Clock has its own pages on the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists website. Not quite sure why they leave the Cuban Missile Crisis or various other near misses from accidental radar blips, etc, off their timeline. At any rate, it is currently ht e worst it has been since 1984:

http://thebulletin.org/timeline

Stats they consider when setting the clock (If you hover over the pie chart segment where it says USA 58, it turns out that the Yanks have lost 14 nuclear material shipments and had 27 stolen in the last 5 years ):

http://thebulletin.org/doomsday-dashboard

There is a poll on the right-hand side of this page where you can vote on where you think the hands should be set. Hours of fun for the whole family....

Doomsday clock moves forward by 30 seconds: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-38760792

"The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists (BPA) moved the minute hand of the symbolic Doomsday Clock from three minutes to two-and-a-half minutes to midnight.

It is second closest it has been.

BPA chief Rachel Bronson urged world leaders to "calm rather than stoke tensions that could lead to war"."

If I had two and half minutes left to live I'd go and call that leopard seal an ugly motherfucker.

Not much time left. The calendar year since your posting is soon up. Break out the champagne.

As I recall, Brian Cox (the scientist) had a few choice words about this a while back. I mean, we'd have seen it coming a long time ago.

It is that time of year again... Doomsday Clock moves closest to midnight since the height of the Cold War:

In my opinion, I don’t think the Cold War ever truly ended. Instead, I think it hit a period where the tension died down. I think it’ll come back now...

Apart from North Korea  what could realistically start world war 3? There is no appetite for it, china won't go into a nuclear war for north korea and north korea would be swiftly taken care of in a war. A war between North Korea and USA wouldn't be global annihilation .

Civil war in Europe and USA is more likely than a global war .

Dr Guy McPherson says that "Most people on Earth will be dead within the coming months. No people will celebrate the New Year in 2026."

He is professor emeritus at the University of Arizona, where he taught and conducted research for twenty years.

Ah, so that's what Stevie Wonder was talking about.
