The Welsh

First language Welsh speakers were diagnosed with dementia about three years later than those who spoke only English, a Bangor University study has shown.

There are about 45,000 people living with dementia in Wales.  Dementia studies lecturer Dr Catrin Hedd Jones said the reasons behind the difference in diagnosis time could be due to a range of factors, but most likely your average healthy Welshman naturally sounds like a drooling dimentite, so picking out an ill person is trying at best.

The Regimental Mascot of 3rd Battalion The Royal Welsh has died, the Army has said.

Lance Corporal Shenkin II, a Kashmiri from the Royal Herd at the Great Orme, Llandudno, died on Tuesday aged seven.  He made regular appearances at rugby internationals with his handler, Goat Major Sergeant Mark Jackson.  A letter has been sent to the Queen officially informing her of Shenkin's death and also asking permission for the regiment to select a new goat.

I'm thinking MPFC would be a fine selection as the Welsh goat.

Top welsh lawyer Patrick Harrington QC has been seriously injured in a car crash.

I'm sure he'll just shrug it off as bad luck and not try to blame anyone.

Well known Welsh farmer Richard Tudor has died aged 45 in a tractor accident on his farm in Llanerfyl in Montgomeryshire.

Well known to sheep, perhaps.

Travel writer Simon Calder has 'no further plans' to visit Wales after abuse

"A travel writer said he received "such intense abuse" when he suggested people visit Wales that he has "no further plans" to book a stay in the country.

Speaking on ITV's This Morning earlier this week, Simon Calder listed Gwynedd and Ceredigion, as well as Belfast and Edinburgh, as places people could go.

But he said he then received a torrent of abuse via email and social media."
