Surprised it hadn't been mentioned yet, news from a couple days ago, but holding company Sears is closing 78 stores (10 Sears, 68 KMart stores). KMart was an institution in the Midwest where I grew up and their HQ was in the Detroit suburbs, so it's sad to see the monolith all but disappear. Interestingly the store in New Iberia, LA prolly an extreme rarity in the South is one that remains open (25 miles from me if I so desire)

It's no problem. They were a bit vague on the announcement at the time. And several K-Mart stores had already closed. The one near me closed over a year ago.

I only ever shopped there once which was to get a hat and gloves for my son. It was the only place around town that still had some in stock in mid-March.

I've only shopped there a couple of times. Once was to find a football shirt for my nephew. They were ridiculously over-priced.

The second time was to find out if they carried any cricket equipment or if they didn't, perhaps they could tell me anywhere that could help, the staff were clueless and weren't even willing to help.

 

The shop closest to where I live, closed down a few years ago. All the staff were given the option of transferring to another shop just a few miles away. The other one closed down last year.

For me it was that the customer service was terrible. The couple of times I did venture in there, there were just a few other customers and plenty of staff standing around talking to each other. If you went up to ask them about anything, you got the feeling you were interrupting their conversation.

I think it took CNN way too long to realize Donald was only talking about, and maybe to, himself. This man is a disaster to the world and the Republican Party in particular. And I don't pity them. They really did it to themselves. They choose to pit 16 candidates against him and one by one they turned out to be lightweights against him. The presidential run is won by the Democrats, five months in advance. Clinton will make minced meat of him.This blowhard took much to much hay on his fork. Sears in particular became very poor in customer service, particularly in any phone interaction and in service. They have made a decent attempt to improve over the last year or so but if customers have a bad experience they often won't go back.
