Now this has been spun off, anyone wanna come up with a pun for the thread? "Stan Down"? "Throwing Petrov on the Fire"? "Halt: End"?

There must be something in the water at Celtic Park. Alan Stubbs fought testicular cancer in 2000, Tommy Burns succumbed to skin cancer in 2008, John Hartson was diagnosed with testicular cancer, which had spread to his brain, in 2009 and now Stan with leukemia. Perhaps I should consider a theme team of ex Celtic players for next years DDP.

Petrov confirms he will never play football again. Also, Villa fan groups have confirmed there will be 19 minutes of cheering for Petrov this afternoon, bringing the total amount of cheering at Villa Park this season up to 19 minutes.

Petrov confirms he will never play football again.

Has been denied by his agent

It all depends on the type of leukaemia he has. It's only been described as "acute leukaemia". That could mean a number of different things. Could easily be a very treatable form of it

May I call attention to Dutch long distance swimmer Maarten van der Weijden. In 2001 he was diagnosed with acute lymphatic leukemia, whatever that may be. After chemotherapy and stem cell treatment (effectively killing and reconstituting his blood producing tissues) he was cured. In 2008 he won the 10 km open water marathon race in the Peking Olympics. He retired from competitive swimming in 2009 and is very much alive.

regards,

Hein

Latest On Petrov. I can't really tell if he looks good or bad but he looks completely different . Bad he lost his hair side effect of chemo but face looks quite chubby.

The cancer is in remission but we have heard that many times before.
