According to an article in Monsters and Critics, Robin died not of cancer, but of kidney and liver failure.

The Bee Gees singer passed away last Sunday (20.05.12) and despite a two-year battle with cancer and a recent bout of pneumonia, his son Robin John - who is known as RJ - has revealed his death was a result of organ problems.

He explained: 'The end was peaceful and dignified, there were no theatrics. It was only later that I cried and cried.

'It wasn't the cancer that killed my father; those reports are wrong.

'Dad had actually gone into remission and the cancer was completely unrecognisable, it was too small to detect. No scan could see it. He actually died of kidney failure.

'I wanted dialysis and CPR. They said it was futile because he was a Stage 4 cancer patient. I can't count how many times I'd been told that it would be a futile procedure because he had Stage 4 cancer and he wouldn't make it. Yet he always came back.

'Three days before, he was sitting up and watching DVDs and then suddenly he had a seizure. He was then dosed with sedatives to deal with the side effects of his chemotherapy and his liver just couldn't process them.

'He deteriorated to the point where it started to affect his kidneys as well.

'Basically my father died of kidney and liver failure. It was a really sudden downturn.'

Robin's family has finally disclosed the funeral and memorial service dates.

The private family funeral will be on June 12th in Thame, Oxfordshire, and it will be followed by a memorial service at St Paul's Cathedral in London on September 12th.

The Bee Gees vs Chaka Khan Big Train sketch. They even got the right order of their deaths!

Looking at the funeral coverage in Thame of Robin's funeral shows that Barbara Gibb, mother of the Bee Gees, is wheelchair bound and looking pretty frail. Hardly surprising as this is now the third child of the five that she had, that she's now had to bury.

Barry is taking his bad back and dodgy ticker (allegedly) out on the road for three British dates to tour a definitive greatest hits collection (i.e. a better one than either of the two cd packages and/or the collected number ones which form a single CD).

"New" album forthcoming, in other words they're unleashing everything in the vault/on the hardrive, duly tidied up and aiming it for September so it's tastefully short of the Christmas cash in market.

Barry was in my neck of the woods yesterday, unveiling a statue of himself and his brothers. Looks as fit as a fiddle. More info here.

They are apparently going to spend another few million on the "Bee Gees Walk of Fame" in my neck of the woods: http://www.couriermail.com.au/questnews/moreton/stage-two-of-bee-gees-way-approved-by-council-as-barry-gibb-set-to-return-to-redcliffe-for-unveiling-of-2-million-upgrade/story-fni9r1i7-1227004419213

Aye, you can tell by the way they use their walk, they're women's men...

time has confirmed over on Deathrace 2016 http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=8601&p=247500 and corroborative story here http://ultimateclassicrock.com/robert-stigwood-dies/ appears to confirm Robert Stigwood has died at 81.

My first ever deadpooling hit, if only on my personal list!

Indeed it looks like Stigwood has died http://www.tmz.com/2016/01/04/robert-stigwood-dead-bee-gees-manager/

Which begs the question: "Stigwood, a native Australian, was 81 years old. It's unclear, at this point, exactly how he died." So what info did YOU have on him, Y-Dub?

This may sound convoluted, but it's true. As you may guess, I became very familiar with the 2015 DDP celeb list last year while doing the round ups. Stigwood was one of those names that I must have linked with a selection, or something, and I looked him up and saw he was still alive. I remembered his name from various albums I bought over the years. When putting my 1980 Hits DDP team together, obviously ABBA came up (Benny Andersson is on that team this year), reminded me of the rivalry between Stig Anderson and Stigwood, and I meant to place him (Stigwood that is) in Shaun's deadpool, but forgot. When doing the Crowdsourced Deathlist (which I told msc my PM would be my personal list [Edit: see here: http://www.deathlist.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=8609&p=242901), I put him in the team (I think round about mid table).

So it was just a feeling, no research, but his name was so interlinked with my preparations for this year, on he went.

You'd better ask what info youwanticewiththat had as he seems to have had him on both Deathrace and Shaun's deadpool.

Edit: I think Stigwood was also involved with Mike Berry at some stage (He's on my 1980 Hits DDP entry as well), so it was kind of picked for me from somewhere in the ether. Maybe my late godmother's parting gift somehow.

The Daily Mirror are reporting it now. Although I'd usually doubt the Daily Mirror, so I would probably hold off a bit till one of the broadsheets report it. Usually TMZ are quite reliable, but the obit doesn't qualify for DDP points.

The weird thing is, there's no date mentioned in any of the reports. Usually they would mention things such as "died early Sunday morning", "passed away in his sleep sometimes Sunday night or Monday morning", but unless I've missed it, I don't see it anywhere.

Very true, in fact, look at this australian article:

http://www.smh.com.au/comment/obituaries/robert-stigwood-music-goliath-was-a-creative-genius-20160105-glzu12.html

Says "Robert Stigwood (1934-2015)"

2015 is the key...

Edit: Telegraph obit says January 4th though, but that could just be a guess:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/12082776/Robert-Stigwood-pop-impresario-obituary.html

Double Edit: It doesn't kill the Deathrace points though, but might instead be worth 366 pts.

January 4th is when the death was announced. I'm wondering if he died on NY's eve

We'll need to wait to see whether he dropped in '15 or '16. One team has him in the DDP...

Barry Gibb sang to his late brother while he was in a coma.

The 69-year-old singer has revealed he dedicated the song 'End of the Rainbow' from his new solo album 'In The Now' to his younger brother Robin Gibb, and sang a verse from the track to his sibling two weeks before he died from cancer in 2012.

Quite ironic in that Barry's singing put him in the coma to begin with.
