Died in a care home so must have had a long standing condition. Unless of course he liked the nursing staff uniforms (obviously they wear stocking and suspenders)

Only if the staff were male and he was into drag queens. ;)

The actor Gordon Kaye , famous for his role as Rene Artois on Allo Allo has died aged 75 http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-38718282

Just last week we were watching the BBC 1983 version of Mansfield Park where Gordon Kaye played Doctor Grant. Can't believe Bernard Hepton (who played the character in Secret Army which Rene was based on) outlasted him

Bernard Hepton, an old favourite of mine.

Him and Jayston might outlive the rest of Tinker Tailor.

I saw Gorden Kaye on stage in a production of Harvey at Wimbledon Theatre years ago. I believe it was his first stage role following the injuries he sustained during the storm in '87. Also appearing with him were Frank Thornton and Rue McClanahan. I think I still have the program somewhere

Cheers for that. I left Facebook years ago and nothing, not even deadpooling, will make me go back.

I thought we already had a sitcom thread?

Anyway, Gerald Sim, John Nettleton, Dora Bryan, Stephen Lewis, Geoffrey Hughes, Penny Marshall, John Horsley, Hywel Bennett, Tony Booth and Bill Pertwee would be amongst the next.

But then every so often we have somelike Anton Rdogers or that chap from 2.4 children that just go *snap* like that...

Not many survivors from the above list and now Hywel Bennett makes it one less: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/obituaries/hywel-bennett-actor-thames-television-shelley-a7874336.html

That's a massive shock.... that he made it to 73 with his lifestyle.

Anyhow, quite often tipped for deadpooling success by one of our own on here: Toast? Handrejka?

Handrejka, I think.  I can't take any credit.

He was quite a heartthrob in my preteen circles, back in the day.  I never fancied him though.

Neither did I!  Vic Windsor in Emmerdale too.

I've definitely been keeping an eye on him for years. Surprised he made it as long as he did. Sad news though. I was never overly fond of Shelley as a kid but I suspect I'd appreciate it more now.

They actually acted together in an episode of 'Shelley' in 1988...
