Film and TV composer Earle Hagen has died at the age of 88. Mr. Hagen was well known for composing some of the most memorable TV show themes including the themes to The Andy Griffith Show and I Spy.

http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/...0,3376917.story

This follows the infamous Hollywood trend of celebrities dying in threes...

First comedian Dick Martin, then film director, producer, and actor Sydney Pollack, and now film and TV composer Earle Hagen.
Will 2011 be it for the following?
Fidel Castro, Kim Jong-il, Dick Cheney, Margaret Thatcher, Billy Graham, Aretha Franklin, Ariel Sharon, Peter Falk, Elizabeth Taylor, Annette Funicello, Gerry Rafferty (RIP, gone right down the line to Heaven), Kirk Douglas, Zsa Zsa Gabor, James Garner, Jerry Lewis, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sir Richard Attenborough, Dick Clark, Harlan Ellison, Michael Douglas (joker)

Pardon me but I got to run
The fact's uncommonly clear
I got to find who's now the number one
And why my angel eyes ain't here

Excuse me while I disappear

Former South African footballer Abram Raselemane has been found dead. The 30 year old, who gained 16 caps, had apparently taken his own life.

Just in case anyone doesn't know who she was, here are some typical examples of her work:

Shame about Beryl Cook. You've got to feel for anyone who spends their life labouring under the misapprehension that Plymouth is a great city.

Moving on, there are very few people left alive who use an iron lung. Now there is one less, following a power cut in Boston, which killed Dianne Odell, 61, who had relied on the machine since she was 3 years old.
What are heavy? Sea-sand and sorrow;
What are brief? Today and tomorrow;
What are frail? Spring blossoms and youth;
What are deep? The ocean and truth.

58 years in a metal box, the rest of eternity in a wooden one. Still, she sounds like she made more of her life than many of us.

Wow ... Dick Martin, Sydney Pollack, and Harvey Korman all in the span of one week (along with two prominent television music composers). Tough week for Hollywood....

Thanks BCAlum, I was just seeing if it had been reported on the web after I had my dinner.
I'm surprised that Dom DeLuise is still alive, I thought he would have beaten Korman to it

Click on the link, she had a better telly than half of us posting on here. Has anyone got first dibs on it or can I offer the family a few quid?

Oh aye, and another link for Harvey Korman.

Maryport is a disappointment for which there is no cure, but the annual Deathrace thread hereabouts provides welcome distraction.

The Curse of Gene Wilder...... :P
Derby Dead Pool showrunner...

"We're today's scrambled creatures, locked in tomorrow's double feature
Heaven's on the pillow, its silence competes with hell
It's a twenty-four hour service, guaranteed to make you tell
And the streets are full of press men
Bent on getting hung and buried
And the legendary curtains are drawn 'round Baby Bankrupt
Who sucks you while you're sleeping
It's the theatre of financiers
Count them, fifty 'round a table
White and dressed to kill."

Aye, hefty article in today's Observer on the young man. Also a lengthy article on psychotherapist RD Laing and his - often - f**ked up kids, mentioning the fact that his son Adam died recently.
