Michael Gough

I suspect this will be one of the thinnest threads on the forum. If he had been listed as "butler" rather than actor I might have twigged who he was. There was a time when the committee would have rejected him under the fame rule but this year's choices look to have been influenced by a desire for a high body count. I recognised him as soon as I saw the face but he doesn't have strong name recognition.

I just love this pick.

There's just something interesting about seeing obscure B-filmstars on these list.

Wasn't he also one of Adolf Hitler's fathers in The Boys of Brazil?

Great actor, he's been in everything over the years. Used to be married to/date 60s Doctor Who assistant Anneke Wills, was villains in Doctor Who and The Avengers, and was in several Hammer and Amicus films, so he's well known to the average cult movie/tv fan.

He was also a big fan of the LSD back in the day.

No idea about his current health though.

Either I am slow or the link from VSB wasn't working, so there's another.

Sad, he was a great actor. And I'd say that even if he wasn't in some of my favourite TV shows at one point.

(On the other hand, my shadow deathlist now has 5 hits out of 50 by March. That's not bad going for a first attempt at this sort of thing, I guess.)

I had Michael Gough on my "shortlist" for the DDP, then foolishly omitted him.

Hopefully, by way of a tribute, they'll show "Horror Hospital" on TV - a fine film in which MG cracks his knuckles is a very menacing fashion...

Sad to see him go. 94 is a great age to live to.

Hopefully now there is going to be a few more quick hits on the list. Lots of people are just hanging on at the moment. Which is pretty selfish if you ask me.

Wonder what the DL pun will be - "Not Taking The Michael" perhaps?

Gough Gone

Probably most well known as Alfred in the Batman films. He was 94.

Well they do say it's the quiet ones you gotta watch. When was the last time he was heard from or appeared in public, does anyone know?

He did voice work for a video within the last 2 months so presumably recently!

And for Alice In Wonderland and other fairly recent Tim Burton projects, I guess cause I hadn't seen him no camera in so long just assumed he was in a care home somewhere or some such. I never recognised his voice in Alice In Wonderland and have no recollection of his character

The Celestial Widowmaker?

(I'm not using that one for the DDP by the way, unless the eventual Deathlist pun is too similar to one I have in mind...)
