May I ask why there is a "Hall of Kings" but not a "Hall of Queens"?

Is it because only blokes play Deadpool? Or perhaps only men die?

Inquiring minds want to know (I want to know!)*. :D

*does anyone other than myself understand this reference? :o

yeah, ie+, it's the tagline for the National Enquirer tv ads.

Re the above, cancer isn't ruled out, they just score 4 instead of 5 or more. I mean, if this had been late December Lou Rawles would have been worth the pick for the points in the bank. I've got one cancer jobbie fixin' to croak before Christmas on my main list, I think.

Question for CP - how do you define "pornographic" film? Anna Nicole Smith was in at least one film whose sole purpose was, apparently, to show her and others partially or completely naked. But it was very unlikely to have received anything more than an "R" rating, and was at one point undoubtedly in rotation on Cinemax.

Would that count?

Hurrah! I haven't seen one of their adverts in probably 10 years, yet their tagline is well and truly stuck in my mind. Talk about effective advertising!

I think nowadays, Anna Nicole Smith naked in anything would be classed as a horror movie :o

It would count. Pornography is a difficult word to define, but I won't define it by movie rating since A) different countries, different ratings and B ) They change over time (think Midnight Cowboy)

The definition I had in mind was more or less anything that one could find in the "adult" section of the video store but, as with many definitions, it's left a bit open purposely to allow for maximum flexibility. My idea was to encourage interesting choices, so certainly I'm very open to clever applications of the rule.

CP, as I understand it, that there are only three honorary Canadians - The Queen, The Dali Lama and for some unfathomable reason, the Fijian golfer V J Singh !? Am I getting confused again?

I think you may be. The three are:

Raoul Wallenberg (deceased)

The Current Dalai Lama

Nelson Mandela

The Queen still counts as a Canadian, however, as her family is the Royal Family of Canada and thus, qualifies under my definition of Canadian.

Vijay Singh? That's a new one on me.

I have finally sent off my lists... I'm in the game! ( That's 'in' . )

I'm pretty hopeless at picking lists for deadpools. I'm in three others and haven't yet had a success. Lucky them eh? Here's hoping I'll have better luck this time and my picks will be dropping like flies left, right and centre. :o:D

I have finally sent in my entries as well. Hopefully they will give me some good results. :)

Mine will be in as soon as I stop shuffling four people into two slots. *sigh*

I completely missed the bit in the rules about needing a Canadian as one of the selections. I can see I wasn't the only confused one in attempt to find the name of a famous Canadian and one that could possibly be close to death.

Is that a contender for the World's Shortest Book? "Famous Canadians of the 20th and 21st Centuries" :o

If fate was such a fickle thing, I'd have put Bryan Adams just purely out of wishfull thinking :D

To those who look, Canadian candidates are all around.

Granted, with the caveat that she only had a Polish Wikipedia page, otherwise this lady would have made a fine choice - and all that someone would have had to do was give her a Wikipedia page - undoubtedly it would have stuck the year.

Of course, she would have died before the contest began... but still. :o

There certainly are many croakworthy Canadians if you look for them. I'm putting together a Canadian Choir Invisible , or at least a team with many Canadian candidates. I've found a Ukrainian-Canadian

whom I'm hoping may be worth an extra point or two. :o

Hmmm... well I'm a Ukranian-Canadian, and three of my friends know who I am. If you came over and killed me, and it made the news, then by the rules I guess I'd have to give you points...

Uh-oh... :o

CarolAnn; Is that a reference to your CP Deadpool entry or a running commentary on a pornographic film? Just askin', like.

Very effective... I've never seen the advert you're talking about, but I knew the tagline too. It took me a while to figure out where from, but I finally found out. It was a line in that excellent vampire film, 'The Lost Boys', which I watched rather a lot* a number or years ago.

* Roughly about six million times due to the huge crush I had on one of the vampires. How I wished to be bitten then. :o

Maybe a bonus point for anyone who dies on stage/on the pitch etc.

Or how about a bonus point if the death is caught on film?

As a challenge I have been looking for famous Belgian Canadians. Emilie Heymans, the Olympic medal-winning high diver - synchronised no less - might fit the bill. She's no age, but supposing she goes for a tucked reverse pike then catches her chin and breaks her neck? It could happen. How many points for that?

Interesting. That's something to think about.

5 points standard + 1 female point + 1 Belgian point + likely 2 accident points + extra points depending on how many other Canadians on your list had died... so at least nine points.

Former Texas Gov. Ann Richards, 73, dies

Bugger, there goes one of my picks. If only she had waited 9 more days. Now I have to find a new replacement.

Regards,

ff :)

You and me both. *sigh*

Quite a decent pick too. Though the female bonus and the cancer penalty would have cancelled each other out, she would have been eligible for a +1 bonus for lending her voice to an episode of King of the Hill worth a total of 6 points.

This depresses me even more. Onward!

I decided I like the red-on-black design of the rest of the site moreso than the special little background I created, so I've applied it to the home page as well, so that the whole scheme is less offensive to the eye. :banghead:

Also, one or two of you submitted your teams via PM instead of email, which is fine, except that you won't get email updates when I actually get around to sending them out. Not that it matters much, since I'm sure you'll here about it here, but just so you know is all.

I'll let someone else post this in near misses when an English version comes out, but this link confirms the following: Oriana Fallaci dead.

Two teams will need to choose a replacement including, for the second time, Football Fan. :banghead:
