Harry Greene has died aged 89. He was a Welsh-born TV actor, presenter, author etc.

He presented the first DIY/makeover show, Handy Round The Home,

He and his wife appeared in the first commercial soap Round at the Redways,

He also worked with Terry Nation and was the father of former Blue Peter presenter Sarah Greene.

I never knew Sarah Greene was Welsh. Makes sense I suppose, she's always had rugby inside of her.

You've heard that story as well? Pool table I was told. Plenty of action at the baulk end...

Author, journalist, screenwriter, scientist, feminist, academic Elaine Morgan could have gone in any of several threads, but since she seemed a proud Welshwoman she's ended up here, at 92.

After a recent discussion with a fellow DLer, I went on a wikihunt for Welsh Comedians and found these two comedians who seem to be old yet going strong. Wyn Calvin and Stan Stennett.

As it stands*, all Welsh born comedians who are remotely funny seem to have either moved in their infancies to the right side, sorry, east side of Offas Dyke or had public schooling in England. (Griff Rhys Jones, Dawn French, Paul Whitehouse, Keith Allen and Terry Jones for the benefit of BC Alum who it would appear adores lists). And yes, Rob Anton de Beke Brydon is absent for a reason. He is sh*t.

* from Wiki and my personal appraisal of the wiki list of Welsh comedians. There's nothing like some good old fashioned bias in a DL post ;)

Welsh actor Howell Evans has died aged 86.

He seems to have been the 'go to' Welshman, appearing in How Green Was My Valley, The Englishman who went up a hill..., Stella as well as many staples of British TV, Coronation St, Z Cars, Open All Hours, amongst others.

People thought Tom Jones had died when he trended on Twitter over the weekend. He hadn't. (He was performing at the AFL Grand Final, which is probably the closest thing to death for an entertainer):

EDIT: It turns out people are also unsure of whether or not TJ called a footballer-turned-commentator a dickhead:

The clip is here if you want to decide for yourself if he said "dickhead" or "take care" at circa 0:25 seconds:

Sigh... At least it is something to do while we wait for a celeb to die...

Going to post this here, as I don't see a Tom Jones thread (though I'll be starting one next year if he lives, just because he deserves his own piece of history!).

The Voice judge has had to cancel an appearance in Saint Tropez, due to an upper respiratory infection. Rest of tour expected to go ahead.

Funny. Just last week he was in Berlin and made headlines in the local papers here for standing almost completely naked on the balcony. I thought he was looking quite well there. But maybe he caught a cold this way.

That's three times in three different threads I've read that today.

So I shouldn't post it in "any good gigs" ?
